FAQ

Got questions?

Most of the answers are right here. If you don't see yours, reach out, we'd love to talk.

1. What is Kicks and Confidence Collective?

We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to building confidence in children by providing brand new shoes, recognizing positive character, and supporting community outreach efforts that uplift youth and families.

2. Who can receive shoes from your program?

Children and teens ages 8 to 17 years old who are referred by approved working professionals and demonstrate positive character traits such as kindness, leadership, respect, and integrity may be selected to receive a brand new pair of shoes.

3. How are children selected?

Children are selected through a referral process submitted by educators, coaches, counselors, community leaders, and other approved professionals. Our team reviews each referral based on character, behavior, and community impact, not medical or sensitive personal information.

4. Who is allowed to refer a child?

Only working professionals with direct involvement in a child's life may submit a referral. This includes teachers, school staff, coaches, counselors, social workers, faith leaders, and youth program coordinators.

5. Do you collect personal or medical information?

No. We only collect minimal information needed to process referrals, such as name, age, shoe size, and a brief description of positive character traits. We do not request or store medical, mental health, or sensitive personal records.

6. What kind of shoes do you provide?

We provide brand new shoes to children who are selected through our program. We may also accept gently used shoes through donations for community resource events.

7. How can I donate?

You can support our mission through monetary donations, shoe donations, volunteering, or sponsoring community programs and outreach events. Visit our Donate page for more details.

8. What are community resource events?

These are outreach events where families can access gently used clothing, shoes, and essential household items in a supportive and respectful environment. These events are designed to strengthen communities and meet everyday needs.

9. Can I volunteer with your organization?

Yes. Volunteers are essential to our mission. You can help with shoe drives, community events, outreach efforts, and awareness campaigns. Sign up on our Get Involved page.

10. What is your mission?

Our mission is to empower youth by building confidence through shoes, recognition, and community support. We aim to celebrate positive character and remind every child that they matter.

11. Is there a price limit for any one pair of new shoes?

Prices vary as shoe sizes, styles, and brands vary. We will do our best to meet a child's request. In most cases, we select shoes based on the child's top three choices, ensuring they receive something they are excited about and feel confident wearing.

12. What if the wrong size is provided?

All shoe sizes are verified before the order is placed. Once an order has been placed, there are no returns or exchanges, so it is very important that accurate sizing is confirmed during the referral and review process.

13. How will I know if my referral is selected?

Once a referral is submitted and reviewed, our team will contact the referring professional directly if the child is selected. We will provide next steps and coordinate communication with the parent or guardian. If a referral is not selected, it will remain on file for consideration during its active period.

14. How many children can I refer at one time?

Each working professional may refer one child per year. This helps ensure fairness and allows us to thoughtfully review each referral.

15. How long are referrals kept on file?

All referrals remain active for a period of 12 months from the date of submission. After this active period, referrals are automatically removed from our system. If a child is still being considered after that time, a new referral must be submitted by an eligible working professional.
